‘Marriage’ refers to the relationship, the long-term sharing of two lives, a commitment to another person that is (usually) legally binding.

‘Wedding’ refers to the specific ceremony that unites two people in marriage.  We don’t talk about a marriage anniversary because the marriage is the on-going union.  We talk about a wedding anniversary because it is the date that annually marks the ceremony that joined you.

A wedding is likely (or will likely be) one of the most significant days of your life.  Not everyone is at the same stage of their life journey.  When it comes to getting married, you may still be looking for “the one” or you might be in a relationship but not quite ready for the next step.  You could be planning your wedding or already married, or maybe you are content with never being married.  Our lives are filled with life choices, and whether you get married or not is one of the major choices.  Your path will depend on what you want out of life.

With a wedding, extravagant or intimate, generally comes photographs.  Lots and lots of photographs.  There are plenty of photographers out there for you to choose from, depending on your style and budget, or you can make use of the high-resolution camera phones that your guests already have at your wedding.  It is becoming quite popular to have a signboard up at weddings, welcoming your guests and asking them to share their photos on social media using the hashtag provided.  You can then search for the images online using the hashtag and create your own album with all of the digital images.

Event photographers generally offer a disc or shared cloud folder containing the digital images as part of their package, some of them only provide the edited images electronically and you actually have to pay extra if you want printed photos in an album.

So, what happens to all of those digital photographs?

They accumulate digital dust…never to be seen again.

It’s sad, I know, but it has become a reality these days.  Printing can be expensive and minimalism is trending hard at the moment.  Not many people have a whole shelf in their bookcase dedicated to photo albums.  Heck, not everyone has a bookcase in their home.
